Timothy J Humphrey

 Timothy J. Humphrey, Sr.

 Timothy J. Humphrey, Sr. (head of Blackfeet family) received his Bachelor’s Degree with honors from New Mexico State University, a Masters of Social Work from the Worden School of Social Services in San Antonio, Texas, and his law degree from the University of Montana in 1983. Tim has had a wide range of experience with tribal courts, including employment as the Court Administrator to the Blackfeet Tribal Court for two years after graduating from law school. Tim worked as an independent contractor for six years with Kevin Gover at Gover, Stetson & Williams, P.C., focusing on environmental issues, tribal corporations, code development, and gaming before leaving to work for Stetson Law Offices, P.C. Tim brings important experience in the fields of cultural resources and environmental assessments and works extensively with our tribal housing clients. He has been instrumental in the development of tribal environmental laws and regulations, including solid waste management. He has been instrumental in the development of tribal-specific construction documents.  Tim lectures nationally on Indian Housing issues. He was involved extensively with the negotiations that resulted in the first EPA approval of a tribal municipal solid waste facility permitting program.  Tim serves as Vice Chair of the American Bar Association's Section on Environment, Energy, and Resources Committee on Native American Natural Resources for the 2009-10 ABA year.  Tim is licensed in New Mexico and Montana.

Jana L. Walker (Loyal Shawnee (Feathered Clan)/Cherokee (Long Hair Clan)/Delaware) has practiced in many areas of Indian law representing tribes and tribal organizations since 1987 and is a New Mexico Board Certified Specialist in Federal Indian Law.  She is licensed to practice law in New Mexico, Arizona, and the District of Columbia.   Jana joined Stetson Law Offices, P.C. in 2009 as a Senior Attorney where her current focus is on tribal environmental regulation, reservation economic development, cultural heritage and resource protection, tribal business organizations, tribal code and court development, Indian housing, gaming, and taxation.  Previously, Jana practiced in the commercial department of Sutin Thayer & Browne, P.C. and as an associate and junior partner with Gover, Stetson, Williams & West, P.C.  She was a solo practitioner for 16 years, also serving as Of Counsel to Stetson Law Offices, P.C. for 9 of those years.  She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Oklahoma, attended the Pre-Law Summer Institute for American Indians conducted by the American Indian Law Center, Inc., and graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law cum laude

Jana is a frequent speaker on Indian law issues and widely published on Indian environmental issues. In 1992, then American Bar Association President Michael McWilliams appointed Jana to serve a three-year term on the ten-member American Bar Association's Standing Committee on Environmental Law.  In 2002, USEPA Administrator Carol Browner appointed her to the twenty-five member National Environmental Justice Advisory Council (NEJAC), where she served as a member and Vice Chair of its Executive Council, member and Acting Chair of its Indigenous Peoples Subcommittee, and member of the NEJAC Fish Consumption Work Group. 

Jana has been very active in national, state, and voluntary  bar associations, serving as a past officer and council member of the American Bar Association's Section on Environment, Energy, and Resources, as well as a past Chair and Vice Chair of its Committee on Native American Natural Resources.  She was again appointed to Chair the Committee on Native American Natural Resources for the 2009-10 ABA year.   Jana currently serves as a member of the State Bar of New Mexico Committee on Diversity in the Legal Profession and, in the past, was a member of the State Bar Task Force on Minorities in the Profession I (1988-1990) and II (1997-1999).  In 2008, the New Mexico Supreme Court appointed Jana to serve on the  New Mexico Board of Bar Examiners, which assists the Court in matters concerning admission or reinstatement of applicants into the State Bar of New Mexico.   She currently serves as the Board's Vice Chair and the Chair of its Bar Exam Passage Committee.  Within the State Bar of New Mexico, Jana was a former Chair of its Indian Law Section and Editor of the Section’s Indian Law Journal, member of its first Federal Indian Law Specialty Committee, member of the Membership Services Advisory Committee, and mentor in the UNM School of Law Mentor Program.  She also is a long-time member and past officer and director of the Indian Bar Association of New Mexico.

 

 

Jennifer Lee Bradley

Jennifer Lee Bradley graduated summa cum laude from Saint Cloud State University and in 1998, received her J.D. from the University of Iowa. She worked for Stetson Law Offices, P.C. for six years before becoming the Managing Attorney for DNA People’s Legal Services, Inc., in Tuba City, Arizona, a nonprofit organization that provides legal aid to low-income people and families for civil legal problems. While at DNA, she worked in both judicial and administrative forums in the areas of family, housing, consumer, public benefits, and health law. During her legal career, she has worked in education, construction, contract and policy drafting, litigation, and in taxation and commercial business development and returned this year to Stetson to work on tribal business development, energy, legislative initiatives, personnel matters, and housing. Jennifer currently serves as the New Mexico State Bar liaison to the DNA Board of Directors and is licensed in New Mexico, Arizona, and the Navajo Nation.
